Love and Hyunjung

One thing I’m very thankful about is how much God loves Hyunjung (Chloe). When she was born, she was left completely helpless. She didn’t have anyone to take care of her - no mother, no father, she didn’t even have a name. But, God took care of her. I believe it because “every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17) The hospital called a local orphanage and even though they don’t take infants, much less newborns, they agreed to take her. They take such good care of her. She receives so much love. The children’s pastor dropped almost everything she was doing to take care of Hyunjung full-time. People pray for Hyunjung everyday; not kiddy prayers - but real prayers of blessing. The orphanage is run by Angela’s uncle. Her grandfather actually started it 50 years ago and is still actively involved. The weekend Angela and I decided to adopt a child, Angela called her mom to let her know that if the orphanage ever received an infant, we wanted to adopt that baby. I didn’t think much of it because I knew the orphanage doesn’t take infants. Well, before Angela could ask, her mom asked if we knew anyone that wanted to adopt a baby girl at the orphanage.  Angela was instantly committed. She got off the phone and started crying. I thought her dad died or something.A few months later we went to Korea to visit our future daughter.  While we were there we went to a church service. After the service was over, we were introduced to the congregation as the people who were going to adopt Hyunjung. The pastor went on to say we can all learn something from Hyunjung. She’s such a happy baby. She doesn’t worry about who’s going to feed her or change her diaper or take care of her. God feeds the birds of the air and clothes the grass of the fields and provides parents for babies. I don’t know why Hyunjung was provided parents, while millions of other children remain orphans. I don’t know why we are giving the privilege of being those parents when so many couples continue to long for children. I do know that God’s love and wisdom is greater than mine. So, I won’t worry about my life or my daughter’s.
